Jesus is our Peace.
Stay strong, Savoy!

The Youth Group from The Way went to Six Flags this past Wednesday. The weather was a little warm but the roller coaster rides were going full tilt and the girls loved the rides. Marina, Gaeun, Emily and Michelle joined Rick and Vicki for a Spring Break day at the amusement park. Everyone had a good time. Though everyone else was tired by late afternoon, we had to pull Marina out when we were ready to go because she wanted to stay till closing time.
Eight men from The Way attended last weekend’s 2 day Men’s Conference at The Hills Church in North Richland Hills, Texas. It was a blessing to worship with 2,000 men from churches from nine different states and hear the inspiring speakers of Bob Goff, Jason Romano and Bryan Carter. It is always a blessing for our men to attend this annual event and we hope to take more men next year. The theme of the conference is to be the man God wants us to be – to be a man of God.
Several of the men from The Way showed up at the Watson household and enjoyed the fellowship of watching the college football championship game between LSU and Clemson. Lots of snacks were on hand and all had a good time. Eric is not happy though because Clemson lost. Let’s do it again some time, guys!
Our church rose to the occasion with the recent Toy Drive that ended the second week of December. We ended up at 126% of goal in collecting Christmas toys for children in need for our surrounding community. This year’s recipients were children of the Grayson County Homeless Shelter. This organization receives many children into their shelter at this time of year and our congregation’s donations in the love and name of Jesus were answered prayers, according to the Shelter. (There is such a need here and the new Fannin County Homeless Shelter that The Way supports is scheduled to open in January 2020, which may be a great opportunity for our love and support for next year.)
Last Sunday afternoon, many of our church family loaded up sacks of complete Thanksgiving meal items in preparation to be placed in the Blessing Box for the upcoming Thanksgiving week. Our congregation is so blessed and in turn wants to outreach and bless families in need in our community for this special day of Thanks to our heavenly Father. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
On November 22nd, 12 ladies will graduate from their 12-Step Recovery Addiction Class at the Fannin County Detention Facility. Donna Armontrout has joined with Vicki Watson as volunteers for this program. This class is the fifth class to graduate since 2017. Of the 12 ladies graduating, there is a wide variety of ages from 19, to a grandmother of nine grandchildren. Three of the ladies have achieved perfect attendance. All have done daily homework consisting of a scripture reading, application and journal entry using the resources in the Life Recovery Bible (purchased/provided by The Way). This program consists of 84 daily readings completed. Each Friday the homework is checked, discussed, and the tools of recovery are given to begin the new life each of these ladies wants to build. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “If anyone belongs to Christ, then he is made new. The old things have gone; everything is made new!” One young lady wrote, “I don’t care how long it takes to harvest what God wants for me, but one thing I can say is now that I know about Him, I want to follow Him and know more about Him and the blessings He has for me.” All of these ladies will be transferring to new facilities in the coming months. We want to pray that they keep growing in their faith and take the message of Jesus everywhere they go.
Approximately 20 or so people attended what was originally a Family Camp-Out event at Bonham State Park but due to the rain on the first day, became a Family Day at the park on Saturday. A pit wood fire cooked breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage were enjoyed Saturday morning along with lots of hot dogs and fixins’ for dinner. Several games were played and lots of fun was had by all.
